New York Red Bullas head coach Hans Backe admits he has been impressed by the form of rookie defender Connor Lade this pre-season.
The 2011 homegrown signing has slotted in nicely at full-back in recent matches with Backe comparing him to former France, Bordeaux and Bayern Munich star Bixente Lizarazu.
"He's totally uncompromising in his game, good decision-making most of the time.
"You never know with these young guys. But he looks really, really sharp. He looks like French National Team (defender) Bixente Lizarazu, the same size, two good feet, very very precise. I like his passing game, battling in the air. It'll be very interesting to follow this guy.''"He's a huge sensation for me,'' said Backe. "I'm half-shocked probably, with a player coming from college, playing that composed.
