Bradley Wright-Phillips is not expected to return to the New York Red Bulls line-up for at least another week.
The former Manchester City, Southampton and Charlton Athletic striker has missed the Red Bulls' last two matches with a hamstring injury and according to head coach Mike Petke will not be available until the October 20 meeting with Houston Dynamo.
"Nothing is impossible, but the way I'm taking it is: Until they give me that glimmer of hope, I'm counting on him to still be recovering," said Petke of Wright-Phillips.
"There's always a chance (of making the Dynamo match), I assume. He looks good walking around, he's going to treatment nonstop, our medical staff is very good. They can potentially have him back, but as of now I don't have that answer yet."
Since arriving at the Red Bull Arena, Wright-Phillips has made five appearances for the league-leading New York which has included four wins in his four starts.
