New York Red Bull head coach Mike Petke was delighted with the performance of Brazilian midfielder Juninho on the weekend.
The Red Bulls were beaten 3-1 by New England Revolution in the Desert Diamond Cup but that didn't stop Petke from adulating the 38-year old former Lyon and Vasco da Gama star for his 45-minute first-half cameo.
"In the first half, Juninho was a pleasure to watch," said Petke. "Forget about what he does with the ball. It's his awareness defensively, his movements defensively, to close down space, to be the first to the ball."
"Getting a hold of the ball, his vision. Linking up with Thierry [Henry], [Fabian] Espindola and [Tim] Cahill. It was nice to watch.
"It was a little taste for people to watch."
