New York Red Bull striker Thierry Henry believes that rookie defender Connor Lade has been the clubs best player this season.
The 22-year old was brought on just after the hour-mark as the Red Bulls eventually defeated Chicago Fire 1-0 on Wednesday and it was his influence that allowed the home side to gain maximum points according to Henry who admits he is a big fan of his much less experienced teammate.
"I was asking to bring Connor on, because I think Connor can help us," said Henry.
"I understand that he comes from university and you have to also be patient with him because you don't want to also burn him. But you saw it; when he comes on he changed the game, and that's the kind of thing I was asking (for).
"That's the energy guy. I've been saying it for a very long time. For me he's the player of the season so far, with Brandon (Barklage). They've been doing extremely well.
"As soon as he comes on the game changed. He was in their face, in their feet, doing whatever, typical him, turning, twisting, jumping everywhere. That's the type of guy you like coming on."
