NY Cosmos bring in Shimizu's Kashiwase, Atlanta's Mendes

New York Cosmos have made two new signings ahead of their return to soccer in America.

The reformed club are preparing for the NASL fall season, which kicks off in August, and have added two more players to their roster.

20-year old Japanese striker Satoru Kashiwase joins on loan from J-League club Shimizu S-Pulse and is looking to make a positive impact in New York.

"I am very happy and proud to become part of the New York Cosmos," said Kashiwase. "I am going to work hard to be recognized and aim to become an established player here in New York.

"I truly hope that I can develop not only as a player, but also as a person here with the Cosmos. I also want to thank the Shimizu S-Pulse organization, the fans, and everybody who supported me. Everything has been great and I've enjoyed training here every day. I am going to do my best so that I can show you all that I've developed my game."

As well as Kashiwase, the Cosmos have also signed 23-year old Brazilian fielder Paulo Mendes who has departed the Atlanta Silverbacks.
