Nth Qld's Fowler bridges gap on Gold Coast's Smeltz

North Queensland Fury striker Robbie Fowler has bridged the gap on A-League leading goalscorer Shane Smeltz. The former Liverpool star netted his sixth goal of the term when he cheekily took a quick free-kick in the 65th minute of the Fury's clash with Perth Glory.

The goal levelled the match and kick started the Fury's comeback which was completed when Dyron Daal netted the eventual winner in the 71st minute.

Fowler has been a shining light for the Fury, scoring in six of the club's 12 games and now is just four behind Gold Coast's Smeltz who endured a horror 90 minutes with his club who were trounced 6-0 by the Wellington Phoenix.
