Nottingham Forest are seeking the services of Nigel Clough as their manager.
The Daily Mail is reporting that Forest owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi has made a sensational approach to have the son of club legend Brian take up the reins at the City Ground.
Clough Junior, 50, is currently in charge at Burton Albion but Forest want him to replace Philippe Montanier who was sacked on January 14.
The son of the legendary Forest boss, who won back-to-back European Cups and a First Division title in the late 1970s, admits the emotional pull of returning to the club where he played over 300 games is clearly evident.
"It's an easy link and a logical one from lots of points of view," he said.
"All these sort of allegiances you have and everything, yeah they're strong, but in football people go to rivals all the time. It's very difficult when you spent 18 years – I'm just over 50 years old – so a third of my life involved with a certain club [Nottingham Forest]."
