Nottingham Forest's McClaren expecting new signings this week

Nottingham Forest manager Steve McClaren is confident that the club will bring in some new faces this week.

The former England boss has made just one signing this summer, bringing in free agent Andy Reid, but insists that there will be more names headed for the City Ground soon when the rest of the squad heads for the pre-season tour to Portugal.

"We hope that something will happen in the next two or three days and it is imperative I stay here and hopefully meet players," McClaren told the club's official website.

"I can't do that job over in Portugal but I hope by Friday we'll have some news on players."

He added in the Nottingham Evening Post: "Other teams are showing their ambition, we need to start showing ours.

"Other teams are making signings and we were behind when we started. Now we are ten days further behind and it is not good.

"We want a good start this season. We need to see players coming into the club. I didn't come here not to compete."
