Nyron Nosworthy offered no excuses after Sunderland were bundled out of the Carling Cup last night at Luton.
"This has been one of the most disappointing nights in my time at Sunderland," said Nosworthy. "It's as bad as last year when we went out of the competition at Bury and everyone was devastated.
"It was a very bad performance from the first whistle.
"We didn't start well, gave away too many free-kicks and eventually got punished for it. I can't put my finger on why the performance was so bad.
"We are individuals but we have to play as a team, and we didn't do that. The manager didn't have too many strong words to us but then there's only so much he can say and do.
"As players we already know what we've got to do - we don't have to be told like a child. We know the routine, know what we have to do but we didn't do what was needed of us."
