Norwich players did not know me when I arrived - Neil

Norwich City boss Alex Neil has led the club to the promotion play-off final but he admits that not many of his own players had heard of him when he arrived at the club.

Since Neil's appointment from Hamilton Academical in January, the Canaries have been arguably the most consistent side in the Championship, winning 16 and losing only three of 24 games.

"People knew about me in Scotland because I had been a player there with Hamilton for the last 10 years or so," Neil said.

"I don't think anybody really knew me down here in England when I arrived - not even most of the Norwich players.

"But that may have helped me in a way because there were no preconceptions and I haven't had to change one thing in my football philosophy."

Norwich meet Middlesbrough in the Premier League promotion play-off at Wembley on Monday night.
