Norwich City are to make a £3.5million club record bid for Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi.

Norwich boss Glenn Roeder hopes to get the go-ahead if billionaire tycoon Peter Cullum completes a £20m buy-out.

Cullum, who wants main shareholder chef Delia Smith to stay, said: "This is about passion for the club but I'm not prepared to put money in without having control."
