Norwich keeper Ruddy spurs Motherwell on ahead of Rangers play-off

John Ruddy is backing Motherwell to get the chocolates when they meet Rangers this weekend.

The Steelmen take on 'Gers in the Scottish Premiership play-off final first leg at Ibrox on Thursday night before heading to Fir Park for the return bout on Sunday.

Ahead of the vital fixtures, which will see the winner either remain in or gain promotion to the top flight, former 'Well loanee Ruddy is hoping his old side does the business.

"I always look out for their results and I'll watch them on the TV in the play-offs," said Norwich City star Ruddy who gained promotion to the Premier League on Monday via the Wembley play-off win over Middlesbrough.

"I have a lot of affection for Motherwell. When I moved there, I was at a stage in my career where I was really in no-man's land and just drifting along.

"My time at Motherwell was absolutely invaluable to me. I've said too many people if you want to go and play games and get a big stage to play on to go to Scotland.

"You get to play top class football and perform for fantastic clubs up there. The fans are great too.

"It was a brilliant experience for me and I look back at my time at the club with great pride.

"The move there revitalised me and look at me now, I'll be in the Premier League next season.

"So I owe Motherwell a lot. Everyone at the club really helped me out too so I would be delighted if they could beat Rangers."
