Norwich defender Martin: We can't abandon our principles

Norwich City defender Russell Martin says they must not abandon their principles for Premier League survival.

Martin, 25, admits there is no way Norwich can give up their attack-minded approach to games.

He said: "You get punished at this level. Robin van Persie is in the form of his life at the moment and he is one of the best players in the world.

"But we move on and learn a lesson from it. We need to defend better. If we get back to a solid base we'll win games.

"Under the gaffer, it's all about winning. Against Arsenal anything is a bonus. But QPR are a team expected to be around us.

"It's really tight. Two wins in this league gets you in the top eight, two losses can drop you in the bottom three.

"It would be a nice time to get some points against QPR because next week we must go to Manchester City.

"We're happy with the total we've got - 13 from 12 games - but the next stage of the season starts now."
