Malky Mackay is being linked with Chris Hughton's job at Norwich City.
The Mail on Sunday says Mackay is poised to take over from Hughton as manager of Norwich if the Canaries continue to struggle for points in the Premier League.
The sacked Cardiff manager is understood to have been sounded out by Norwich informally earlier in the season, when the club's form first began to falter.
However, Hughton is believed to have remained in his job this long because he continues to enjoy the support of the dressing room.
