David Williams has left North Queensland Fury to join Sydney FC for a six-month deal ahead of the Asian Champions League. The promising 22-year old has signed the short-term deal to help the Sky Blues in their pursuit of Asian glory in the regions' premier club competition which begins in early March.
However, the deal is not permanent as Williams will return to Townsville at the end of his spell with news that the embattled Fury are likely to stay alive after they presented $1.5 million in cash, investment and written guarantees to Football Federation Australia to help ensure their survival.
Williams was one of the club's most consistent performers in a dire season which saw them finish at the foot of the A-League table.
He will begin training with Sydney immediately as they prepare for their ACL opener against Korean outfit Suwon Bluewings at Sydney Football Stadium on March 2.
