North Queensland Fury's Talay outed for two matches

North Queensland Fury captain Ufuk Talay has been handed a two-match ban by the independent Match Review Panel (MRP).

The veteran midfielder was involved in an incident with Wellington Phoenix striker Chris Greenacre in the 13th minute of Friday night's match at Westpac Stadium which ended 2-1 to the Phoenix.

The MRP found that Talay had committed an offence of 'assault on a player (e.g. violent conduct when not challenging for the ball)' against Greenacre and proposed a sanction of two matches.

The ban is the minimum for such an offence but Talay will be able to appeal to the the FFA Disciplinary Committee.

If Talay accepts the ban, he will miss tomorrow night's clash with Sydney FC as well as Saturday's Week 9 fixture against Central Coast Mariners.
