Rangers boss Walter Smith has denied the Ibrox club will be forced to sell off some of their star players in January. West Brom have recently been linked with a move for Kevin Thomson.

"We have got two months before the next transfer window opens," explained Smith.

"There is never any thought in my mind about losing the midfield players we have got here. We need them in the future with the amount of games increasing.

"The good players I have got, I want to keep here.

"With the size of my squad, some players will be leaving but it will not be the ones that are going to take us forward in the future."
