Aberdeen reportedly failed in a late bid for former Everton and Birmingham City attacker James McFadden.

Dons boss Craig Brown was keen to bring the Scotland international to Pittodrie Stadium but the 28-year old rejected his advances.

McFadden has been a free agent since his contract at Birmingham expired at the end of last season but has struggled to find a new club as he recovers from a knee injury which sidelined him for most of last season.
