Nigeria have had their friendly with Colombia at Upton Park this Sunday cancelled, putting Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel's World Cup in major doubt.

Mikel has been sidelined with a knee injury for the past couple of weeks and was hoping to use the match as a chance to prove his fitness.

Despite tickets being sold, West Ham believe they had no choice but to cancel the friendly.

"The club was left with no option but to cancel," a spokesman said.
