Newcastle United refuse to pay over the odds for FC Twente defender Douglas.
The Evening Chronicle says the Magpies will be sticking to the careful budget that resulted in "extremely strong" financial figures and, just like their bid for PSV Eindhoven defender Erik Pieters last summer, they won't crumble to brinksmanship from clubs or agent fees this summer.
Douglas announced yesterday that FIVE clubs were interested in his services, including the Magpies, and suggested that Newcastle could miss the boat if they don't act soon.
