Newcastle United are likely to wait until the summer to sign Ajax captain Siem de Jong.
The Evening Chronicle says talk United are after De Jong is thought to be accurate - but with a view to a summer transfer.
Ajax are keen to hold on to £8m-rated De Jong for their tilt at the Dutch title with the 23-year-old happy to wait until the end of the season to sort his future.
