Newcastle will challenge Man Utd for Palace fullback Clyne

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is keen on Crystal Palace fullback Nathaniel Clyne.

The Daily Star Sunday says Toon boss Pardew is targeting Crystal Palace right-back Clyne as a possible replacement for Danny Simpson.

Ex-Manchester United defender Simpson, 25, has refused to sign a new contract - and Pardew has his sights set on Clyne, 20.

Manchester United are also interested in the England Under-21s international, who is rated by the Eagles at around £5million.
