Newcastle United will be pursuing the services of Ajax defender Mitchell Dijks at the end of the season, according to reports from the Daily Mirror.
Newcastle were keen on signing Dijks during the January transfer window but were rebuffed in their attempts by the Dutch giants.
The left-back area remains a problem position for Newcastle and reports suggest that the Magpies will reignite their interest in Dijks during the upcoming summer – regardless of whether or not Rafa Benitez stays on as manager.
However, the Magpies' status in the Premier League could determine whether or not Dijks, who has been a regular under Frank de Boer since returning to Ajax from Willem II Tilburg in the summer, heads to St James' Park or stays put in Amsterdam.
