Newcastle United face competition from Montpellier in the race to sign Andre-Pierre Gignac.

Gignac is currently one of the most highly sought after free agents in Europe following his fine campaign with Marseille and it was recently reported that the Magpies are very interested in making a swoop for the 29-year old.

However, the Magpies may have to move quickly if they are to land the services of Gignac as reports claim that Montpellier have joined the race for the French international.

Along with Newcastle and Montpellier, even the likes of Liverpool and Monaco are said to be closely monitoring the striker's situation.
