Wally Downes has signed a new deal with West Ham United.
The Sun says Downes has ended speculation he could join Alan Pardew at Newcastle by signing a deal with West Ham.
The Hammers' new defence coach has committed himself until the end of the season and is determined to keep the Irons in the top flight.
Pardew took over at Newcastle on Thursday and has worked with Downes at Reading and Southampton. But Downes said: "I'm delighted to have signed at West Ham.
"They came in for me before Newcastle and if there was any speculation about me going, this will kill it off.
"We have to keep up the momentum. We beat Wigan and Manchester United in my first two matches."
