Newcastle United ace Callum Wilson believes his side have beaten teams this season who were better than Liverpool at the weekend.
The Magpies lost 2-0 to the Reds after an early collapse, which also saw goalkeeper Nick Pope sent off for handling the ball outside his penalty box.
However, they put in a spirited display down to ten men, creating the better chances to get back into the game.
He told the BBC's Footballer's Football Podcast: "If we score our chances early, it's a different game.
“I personally feel that we've beaten teams this season that have performed better than Liverpool did at our place.
"I just felt that we were off it, they were on it, they scored at good times, we went down to 10 men and actually played better.
“We performed better on the day, but the only statistic that matters is goals."
