Newcastle striker Wilson admits Lingard would've been 'great addition'

Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson admits Jesse Lingard would have been a good addition to the squad.

The Magpies are still searching for one or two elite attackers to add to their team before the transfer window closes.

Wilson, who is the main man up front for the club at present, admits playing alongside attacking midfielder Lingard would have been enjoyable.

Speaking on the Footballer's Football Podcast, Wilson said: "I'm not sure to be honest. There's speculation of us signing everybody.

"I think since the takeover has happened, we're linked with most players that become available. He would have been a great addition to our squad but I guess that's probably for the hierarchy and for Jesse's people to have spoken and had them talks.

"I wish him all the best at Forest. I'm going to play against them on the first game of the season ironically, it'll be good to catch up with him after the game there and see how he finds it.

"Obviously, see how he thinks the season will pan out for them."
