Newcastle United striker Sammy Ameobi was delighted with his England U21 debut.

The forward, who also qualifies for Nigeria, was a substitute for Thursday's European Championship qualifier at Colchester, which England won 5-0 against Iceland. But he was introduced early after an 11th-minute injury to Nathan Delfouneso.

"I thought it would be a quiet night for me and that I might get 10 or 15 minutes at the end if I was lucky," he told Newcastle's official website. "It was a hard debut but I thought I fitted in quite well and was pleased with it."
