ChampionshipBarnsley have completed the loan signing of striker Nile Ranger from Newcastle. The 20 year old appeared at Newcastle magistrates court last Thursday and pleaded not guilty to assault and drunk and disorderly behaviour charges. He was remanded on conditional bail and will re-appear in court on January 13.
Hill told BBC Radio Sheffield: "Everybody deserves a second, third or fourth opportunity. As long as they're willing to accept the wrongs that they've done, as long as they're trying to right those wrongs, then I'll work with anyone."
Toon boss Alan Pardew has reportedly refused to consider Ranger for the first-team this season following his off-field problems.
Ranger told Barnsley's official website: "Eight weeks, eight games and eight goals hopefully. If I get games and starts goals will definitely come.
"I haven't got any distractions around me at Barnsley so I will be fully focused on training and playing my football.
"We had a meeting and they [Hill and assistant David Flitcroft] said it was going to be a trust issue and they were going to take a risk on me and I'm grateful for that."
Ranger added: "I'm excited and over the moon because I've been waiting for an opportunity to get some games under my belt this season."
