Newcastle set for preseason Mallorca trip

Newcastle United are set for a high-profile pre-season trip to Mallorca this summer to take part in the Mallorca Summer Cup.

It has been confirmed that the Magpies will tackle top-level Spanish and German opposition during the tournament as they put the finishing touches to their pre-season programme.

Kevin Keegan's side already have five warm-up matches to get the players in the best possible shape ahead of the 2008/09 Premier League campaign, where they will look to break into the top eight of the table.

The four-team Mallorca Summer Cup tournament, which includes the hosts RCD Mallorca and German sides Hertha Berlin and Hanover 96, will take place in the ONO Estadi, Palma - and fixtures for the event have now been confirmed.
