Newcastle United fullback Jose Enrique is not interested in a move to Sunderland.

Enrique, the Newcastle United defender, has ruled out joining Sunderland next month in spite of interest from Steve Bruce.

Wigan Athletic's Maynor Figueroa remains the Sunderland manager's first-choice target, but while Enrique has emerged as a strong back-up option, the Spaniard has no interest in moving to Wearside.

"I don't care about Sunderland," he said. "I worry for my team."
