Newcastle United will reportedly change their captain next season.
Various reports suggest that the Magpies will strip Fabricio Coloccini of his captaincy duties and install Daryl Janmaat as the new leader.
Argentine defender Coloccini has skippered the Toon since 2011 but could be moved to the side if Dutchman Janmaat, who has been linked with Liverpool, remains at St James' Park.
The decision would also depend on whether or not John Carver is kept on as Newcastle manager.
Regarding the possibility of a change in captaincy, Carver said: "The captaincy is something that has to be addressed by the football club.
"We need to give the captaincy to somebody who is responsible, who is a leader. The players will follow a leader, and they have to have discipline on and off the pitch.
"I'd be tempted (to make Janmaat captain), yes, because he's a proper leader.
"He's got character, strength, he's good around the dressing room. Whatever you ask him to do he'll do it and he has a good presence around the place.
"He leads by example, and that's what you need a captain to do. Daryl has been outstanding."
