Newcastle United may wait to sign Guangzhou Evergrande midfielder Nemanja Gudelj.
Gudelj impressed last season on-loan at Sporting CP and is eager to remain in Europe.
O Jogo says Newcastle and Real Betis are among clubs eyeing the midfielder, though the Serbia international's €5m salary at Guangzhou is proving a stumbling block.
But with his deal to expire at the end of the year, interested European clubs may wait until then to take Gudelj in a Bosman deal.
The 27 year-old could return to Sporting before making a definitive decision about his next club in January.
