Newcastle United are pondering a move for Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull.
The Magpies have been linked with the Celtic target in the media today and we understand that United have checked out Turnbull on a number of occasions during last term's Scottish Premiership season, says the Evening Chronicle.
The Scottish top-flight was cut short during the virus pandemic with Celtic awarded the title.
Turnbull, 21, played just twice last season and was just getting back to fitness after a knee problem when the campaign was abruptly ended.
It is believed that Steve Nickson, Newcastle's head of recruitment, liked the look of the midfielder who has worked his way up from the juniors at Fir Park.
