Newcastle pondering move for Derby's McClaren to see off relegation

Newcastle United entered crisis meetings on Sunday as they look to avoid an embarrassing relegation.

The Magpies have lost eight Premier League matches in a row to be sitting just two points clear of the drop zone with three fixtures remaining.

John Carver has managed just two wins from 16 matches in his caretaker role and the north east club is reportedly pondering whether or not they will make a shock move for Derby County's Steve McClaren for the last few matches of the campaign.

McClaren's season with the Rams is over after the club missed out on the promotion play-offs by a single point and the Daily Mail is of the belief that the Toon are contemplating a late-season move for his services.
