Premier League giants Newcastle United are set to bid for a centre back in the coming weeks.

The Magpies are leading the race to sign Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen.

Per The Mirror, Andersen is one who manager Eddie Howe has admired for a long time.

The 27-year-old, who was also at Fulham on loan earlier in his career, has impressed at Palace over the past 18 months.

His partnership with Marc Guehi is one of the key reasons the team is not in the relegation zone.
