Newcastle plan second offer for Blackburn kid Wharton with new pitch

Newcastle United are chasing Blackburn Rovers midfielder Adam Wharton ahead of the January market.

The Sun says Newcastle plan to bid for the teen over the New Year after having an offer rejected last summer.

Newcastle chief scout Steve Nickson watched him in action last week and hopes to persuade him that he would be part of their first-team plans quickly.

Wharton resisted Newcastle's previous approach after being informed he would start the season in their U21 team.

However, Nickson now hopes to convince him about a clearer first team path should the 19 year-old agree to a January switch.
