Icelandic international striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson is a target for Newcastle United.
The Sunday Mirror says Toon chief scout Graham Carr has been scouring the Dutch scene since unearthing Cheik Tiote at FC Twente last summer and now has his sights on 21-year-old Sigthorsson, enjoying a productive campaign with AZ Alkmaar.
The 6ft 1in Sigthorsson is a target man in the Andy Carroll mould with good close control and a willingness to shoot from distance.
And he made huge headlines in Holland in January when he became only the second foreign player in Eredivisie history to score five goals in a game in the 6-1 win over VVV-Venlo.
Sigthorsson has hit 14 goals in his first season to push AZ into fourth place.
