Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has reportedly offered to loan money to financially struggling Scottish club Rangers.
The Sports Direct founder, who holds a 9% stake in the Glasgow outfit, wants to propose an emergency loan offer after former director Dave King was unable to reach an agreement over a £16million injection.
However, it has also been reported that Brian Kennedy, owner of rugby union club Sale Sharks, is set to counter Ashley's mooted offer as he seeks a more long-term solution to the problems of the Ibrox club.
