Newcastle United have dismissed claims Manchester United coach Michael Carrick is being considered as Rafa Benitez's replacement.
Geordie Carrick has been linked with a role in the St James' Park dugout should Benitez call time on his stay at United.
But the Evening Chronicle says Carrick's name has not been mentioned by Toon chiefs.
Carrick has been on the coaching staff at Old Trafford since calling time on a stellar playing career which also included spells at West Ham and Tottenham .
In 12 years as a player at United, Carrick won five Premier League titles, one FA Cup, three League Cups, the Champions League and the Europa League.
