Newcastle No2 Carver: Laing shouldn't be playing for Sunderland

Newcastle United No2 John Carver is upset Louis Laing is playing for Sunderland.

The young defender is an England youth international.

"Recently there's a boy called Louis Laing who played at Montagu and he went to Sunderland," Carver told the Evening Chronicle.

"He lives in Lemington. For me, irrespective of what people think, that's not right.

"If there is a talent out there within a stone's throw of this city, then why is he not at Newcastle United? Montagu is in the heart of the city, most of the kids come from the city and they should be playing for the city.

"I am going to make sure that the links with the club are strong and if there is a good player here, we get him at our football club."
