Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden's home was burgled on Saturday night.

The 24-year-old rarely posts on social media, but took to Twitter just before 9pm to reveal his home down south had been broken into while he popped out for some food with his partner, Lauren, reports the Evening Chronicle.

Hayden had been spending time with his family after Newcastle players were sent away from the training ground for at least two weeks following the decision to suspend professional football in England until April 3 at the earliest because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Magpies' games against Sheffield United and Man City have been postponed as a result and the squad have all been given individual training programmes to maintain their fitness.
