Liverpool have been approached by Newcastle United for outcast defender Jose Enrique, BBC Sport is reporting.

The 30-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is on a reported £65,000-a-week. The Reds are more than happy to let the Spaniard return to the club he left in summer 2011 in a £6m move.
