Newcastle United are going to £6 million for Lille fullback Mathieu Debuchy.

The Mirror says Debuchy's club Lille rejected a £4million offer earlier this month and described it as derisory for a player who caught the eye at Euro 2012.

The Geordies are not prepared to scrap their interest in Debuchy, who has also been linked with Chelsea, however.

They will go back to the French club with an offer of nearer £6m for the 26-year-old.
