Montpellier duo Olivier Giroud and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa are being tracked by Newcastle United.
The Daily Mail says Toon scouts ran the rule over Giroud and Yanga-Mbiwa on Saturday.
Giroud, 25 scored a hat-trick while defender Yanga-Mbiwa, 22, had a comfortable evening as Montpellier won 3-1 at Sochaux.
