Newcastle United legend Malcom Macdonald believes Allan Saint-Maximin can still have a big future with the Magpies.

The French winger has lost his first-choice this season.

But Supermac wrote for the ChronicleLive: "Suddenly there appears to be real options on the flanks with Murphy, Anthony Gordon, Miggy Almiron, Joelinton, Allan Saint-Maximin and Elliot Anderson all putting themselves forward.

"It will be good to have Joelinton back wherever he is selected but I doubt that Maxi has done enough to earn another start. I would love him to get some videos of Bukayo Saka and study how the lad operates. He plays the wide position perfectly and is a great goalscorer and assist man.

"Yet Maxi has all the God given talent that Saka has without the application and footballing nous. If he could learn that his career would go in a vastly different direction."
