Newcastle United and England legend Alan Shearer says Spain deserved to win the World Cup.

Spain won thanks to Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta's extra time effort.

Shearer declared: "It was a victory for football.

"Spain are the best team with the best players. Iniesta, Xavi, Villa and their goalkeeper and captain Casillas have all had superb tournaments.

"The way Iniesta controls a football is incredible - he must have magnets on both feet."
