Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul praised Sunderland matchwinner Jermain Defoe after defeat yesterday.

Krul has taken heat for congratulating Defoe at halftime for his wonder goal on Sunday.

"I think it was an unbelievable goal. Especially given the pressure for them to score a goal like that is massive.

"Especially a minute before half-time. It's a shame for us because if you walk in 0-0 it would have been much easier for us."
