Newcastle keeper Harper prepared to go straight out on loan

After returning from his short-term stint with Brighton & Hove Albion, Steve Harper says he is ready to go out on loan again.

The Newcastle United goalkeeper spent a month with the Seagulls, keeping two clean sheets in five appearances for Gus Poyet, and upon returning to St James' Park, said he would welcome another chance if it presented itself.

"I needed to go out and play some games and get myself up to speed, in case anything happens to Tim (Krul)," said Harper.

"I know the loan deadline's Thursday, so if the right opportunity came up somewhere, I might do another month before Christmas, but the priority now is to get the jab in my knee and rest it for a couple of days."
