Newcastle have jumped into the battle for Trabzonspor midfielder Abdulkadir Omur.

Omur, 19, has been dubbed the "Turkish Lionel Messi" with Manchester City and Liverpool also interested in his services.

Newcastle have now declared their interest in Omur, according to reports in Turkey, with the club desperate to turn their fortunes around after a horror few months.

The Toon have won only one of their last nine games in all competitions, with forward Ayoze Perez claiming he has no idea what the problem is.

Omur is thought to be available, but only for a sum of around £27million.
